Thank you so much for reading your grandfather’s story. It wouldn’t have been nearly as impactful if I had read it. It reminded me of the holidays we spent at my grandparents’ dairy farm in Wisconsin. My husband and I are the only ones who eat mincemeat pie, so we don’t always bake it anymore.

Have wonderful Thanksgiving with your family. That’s right, they don’t celebrate that holiday over there. Do you?

We usually do observe Thanksgiving in some way, though it is not at all like doing so in the US. This year it will be a kind of Sunday dinner : duck breast, glazed shallots, potato, Brussels sprouts. Some kind dessert. But no turkey, and no venison mincemeat pie !
